Every variant of the new Toyota LandCruiser Prado has achieved a top five-star ANCAP rating

The new-generation 250 Series Toyota LandCruiser Prado has earned a five-star safety rating following local validation conducted by ANCAP under its latest and most rigorous criteria.
While the testing focused on the Toyota Prado GXL variant, the five-star rating extends to all variants in the lineup, as each model is equipped with a standard suite of advanced collision avoidance features.
ANCAP highlighted “rigorous” local testing that demonstrated strong performance across all four key assessment areas. The LandCruiser Prado received scores of 85% for adult occupant protection, 89% for child occupant protection, 84% for vulnerable road user protection, and 82% for safety assistance.

The Prado delivered a “good” level of protection in the frontal offset head-on crash test, with the exception of “adequate” and “marginal” ratings for the driver’s lower leg and chest, respectively.
ANCAP noted that protection for the two child crash test dummies seated in the second row was rated as “good,” earning maximum points in this category.
The Prado’s active safety systems were evaluated on-track at ANCAP’s facility, demonstrating “good” performance in most tests assessing its ability to detect other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.

The local Toyota LandCruiser Prado lineup consists of five model grades, all equipped with Toyota Safety Sense features, including a Driver Monitor Camera, Road Sign Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, Pre-Collision Safety System, and Safety Exit Assist.
The vehicle is fitted with nine airbags throughout the cabin.
“The new Toyota Prado delivers a robust level of safety that meets the expectations of both fleet buyers and everyday consumers,” said ANCAP CEO Carla Hoorweg in a media statement. “This is another strong result, highlighting Toyota’s ongoing commitment to safety across its model range.”
ANCAP’s updated 2023 testing criteria, aligned with Euro NCAP standards, place greater emphasis on driver monitoring systems, autonomous emergency braking performance, and motorcyclist crash safety.
The Toyota LandCruiser Prado became available in Australia in November 2024.
