The performance variant of the Mira e:S kei car features a turbocharged 660cc engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

Daihatsu has revealed its lineup for the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, headlined by a performance-oriented Mira e:S featuring a turbocharged engine and Gazoo Racing (GR) emblems. This sporty kei car, showcased as a concept, will be accompanied by two racecars and a variety of kei vans with unique modifications.
Mira e:S Turbo Concept: Entry-Level Sports Car
The centerpiece of Daihatsu’s display is the Mira e:S Turbo Concept, described as “an entry-level sports car designed to broaden the horizons of motorsports and make the joy of driving accessible to everyone.” This hints at potential production plans, as the concept already appears street-ready for Japan.

Design and Features
Based on the second-generation Mira e:S, which debuted in 2017 alongside its Toyota Pixis Epoch and Subaru Pleo Plus counterparts, the Turbo Concept boasts a sporty aesthetic. Key features include a redesigned front bumper with aggressive intakes, a unique rear bumper, decorative side gills, and BBS alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin is fitted with sports seats for an enhanced driving experience.
Performance Upgrades
The Mira e:S Turbo is equipped with a turbocharged 660cc three-cylinder engine. While Daihatsu hasn’t disclosed specific power figures, a comparable engine in the Daihatsu Copen delivers 64 hp (48 kW/65 PS)—a notable upgrade from the standard Mira e:S’s naturally aspirated 48 hp (36 kW/49 PS). The concept also swaps the stock CVT transmission for a five-speed manual gearbox. GR badging suggests further chassis tuning by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division for improved handling.
Rally Inspiration
Daihatsu will also showcase a rally-spec Mira e:S that competed in Rally Japan 2024. This version shares the concept’s body kit but adds a vented hood, unique wheels, a recovery hook, racing livery, and a stripped-down interior with racing seats and a roll cage.

Additional Models at the Auto Salon
Daihatsu’s booth will feature more motorsport-inspired vehicles, including a racing version of the Copen GR Sport roadster and the Hijet Truck Jumbo Extend, a support vehicle with sliding cargo space for motorsport events.
The kei van lineup, themed around “supporting daily life and the community,” includes:
- Atrai Wildranger: Outfitted with power supplies and disaster prevention compartments.
- Hijet Truck Lift Disaster Relief Vehicle: Used as a volunteer center following the northern Kyushu floods in 2023.
- Hijet Truck Tool Base: A mobile toolkit for construction sites, complete with a sunshade tent for workers.
