Interest in the coupe is growing for BMW in key markets like the US, Germany, and China

BMW’s latest M models are flying off the shelves. After the M5 exceeded sales expectations, the newly revealed M2 CS is now seeing stronger-than-expected demand, prompting the automaker to expand production slots—particularly in key markets like the U.S.
According to Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President of Customer, Brand, and Sales at BMW M, there’s “huge demand” for the new variant. While exact production numbers remain under wraps, Neubauer confirmed that allotments had to be increased “by quite some units,” with Germany and China also seeing heightened interest.

The 2026 M2 CS packs serious performance, thanks to a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six producing 523 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque—50 hp and 36 lb-ft more than the standard M2. It comes exclusively with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, unlike other all-wheel-drive CS models.

Weight savings of 97 pounds over the base M2 come mostly from its carbon-fiber construction, though it still tips the scales at nearly 3,800 pounds. The CS can sprint to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 188 mph.
Priced from $99,775 before options, the M2 CS is one of BMW’s most expensive and sought-after M coupes to date—and buyers are lining up fast. If you’re hoping to grab one, expect serious competition.
