The Kia Tasman Weekender concept is the most striking and capable version of the midsize pickup so far

The Kia Tasman didn’t exactly make waves when it debuted in late 2024, drawing more criticism than praise. But Kia is looking to change the conversation with the Tasman Weekender (WKNDR) concept, quietly revealed at the 2025 Seoul Motor Show. Featuring a tougher stance and a suite of off-road-inspired accessories, the WKNDR could sway skeptics.

Taking cues from popular off-roaders like the Ford Ranger Raptor, the concept includes body-colored wide fenders in beige—an upscale upgrade over the standard black plastic. Lime green accents, reshaped panels, a custom-painted bumper guard with an integrated winch, and a more aggressive hood add to the rugged aesthetic.
Other highlights include a roof rack with extra LEDs, bed-mounted storage, a redesigned rear bumper and tailgate, and 35-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires on black wheels. A higher ride height hints at possible suspension upgrades.

Mechanically, the WKNDR is expected to retain the same powertrains as the standard Tasman: either a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder or a 2.2-liter turbodiesel, depending on the market. A V6 remains off the table due to emissions concerns.
When asked about the concept’s production chances, Kia design chief Karim Habib said the company remains “flexible” and is listening to customer feedback. He confirmed body-colored fenders are in Kia’s future plans and didn’t rule out a Ranger Raptor rival, suggesting customer interest could drive future development.
Kia already offers a solid lineup of Tasman accessories, but the WKNDR underscores a growing interest in off-road style and customization. Whether it becomes a production trim or not, the concept points to a more adventurous future for Kia’s midsize pickup.
