Rare Toyota Mega Cruiser Up for Sale Looks Like It Belongs in a Pixar Film

Toyota Mega Cruisers are rare finds in the U.S., but this factory high-roof version is even harder to come by

Whenever a Toyota Mega Cruiser pops up for sale, I pay attention—not because I can afford one, but because they’re just that cool. This particular one on Bring a Trailer is extra special: a rare factory high-roof model with a windshield flatter than an IMAX screen.

Toyota only made about 150 civilian high-roof Mega Cruisers over six years. Before ending up in New Hampshire, this one roamed the Kenyan savanna as a safari vehicle—a far cry from maple trees and snow.

Under the hood is a 4.1-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel, paired with a four-speed auto and four-wheel drive. It’s got three locking differentials and rides on portal axles with 37-inch tires, offering over 16.5 inches of ground clearance. Despite just 153 hp and 282 lb-ft of torque, it’ll crawl over anything you point it at.

Inside, there’s seating for 10 and enough headroom to stand. It’s easy to imagine guiding tourists while peeking at lions through the upper windows—or climbing up via the rear bumper step to spot wildebeest like a proper safari pro.

Sure, it shows its age—some interior stains and a sagging headliner—but that just adds character. It’s got 65,000 miles on the clock, and that rugged 15B-FT diesel could probably run forever on jungle rainwater.

The auction ends Monday, with the current bid just over $30K. That number could climb fast—another Mega Cruiser sold for $167,500 earlier this year. Whether this one meets reserve is anyone’s guess, but someone’s bound to fall hard for this rare beast.
