Rimac Reclaims Its Throne as the Fastest, Koenigsegg Falls Behind

The new Nevera R shattered 24 world speed records, including the prestigious 0-249-0 mph run

Just when it seemed like the Nevera hypercar couldn’t get any more extreme, Rimac raised the bar with the Nevera R. Under its sleek carbon fiber body, the upgraded model packs a new battery setup and even more powerful motors, producing a staggering 2,107 horsepower and a top speed of 256 mph—an increase of 193 horsepower over the original Nevera.

And now, the Nevera R has set its sights on dethroning its predecessor.

Rimac’s latest creation recently smashed 24 world speed records, reclaiming 23 of them from the previous Nevera. The most significant? The 0-249-0 mph run, where Rimac snatched the crown back from Koenigsegg with a blistering 25.79-second time. That’s 2.04 seconds quicker than the Regera and 4.14 seconds faster than the original Nevera.

The Nevera R didn’t stop there. It also beat the Nevera’s 0-60 mph time, clocking 1.66 seconds, hit 124 mph in 3.95 seconds, and reached 186 mph in a jaw-dropping 7.89 seconds.

Here’s a breakdown of the records:

  • 0-60 MPH: 1.66 Seconds
  • 0-100 KMH (62 MPH): 1.72 Seconds
  • 0-100 MPH: 2.96 Seconds
  • 0-200 KMH (124 MPH): 3.95 Seconds
  • 0-300 KMH (186 MPH): 7.89 Seconds
  • 0-200 MPH: 9.25 Seconds
  • 0-400 KMH (249 MPH): 17.35 Seconds
  • 100-200 KMH (62-124 MPH): 2.22 Seconds
  • 200-250 KMH (124-155 MPH): 1.65 Seconds
  • 200-300 KMH (124-186 MPH): 3.89 Seconds
  • 0-100-0 KMH (0-62-0 MPH): 3.32 Seconds
  • 0-200-0 KMH (0-124-0 MPH): 8.58 Seconds
  • 0-300-0 KMH (0-186-0 MPH): 14.49 Seconds
  • 0-400-0 KMH (0-249-0 MPH): 25.79 Seconds
  • 0-250-0 MPH: 26.20 Seconds
  • Quarter Mile: 7.90 Seconds
  • Standing Mile: 19.71 Seconds
  • Top Speed: 268.2 MPH (431.5 KMH)

“When we launched the Nevera, it felt like we had already reached the peak of hypercar performance,” said founder and CEO Mate Rimac. “But through relentless innovation, the Nevera R has pushed things even further—without sacrificing the comfort or everyday usability that sets it apart. Breaking records is in our DNA, and we’re not done yet.”

Of course, record-breaking performance comes at a price. The Rimac Nevera R costs $2.7 million (€2.3 million), and production is strictly limited to just 40 units worldwide.
