The WRX STI S210 is the most powerful variant of the current-generation model, delivering 296 hp from its enhanced 2.4-liter boxer engine
Subaru surprised fans at the Tokyo Auto Salon with the reveal of the WRX STI S210, a limited-production model hailed as the “pinnacle of STI complete cars.” This special edition boasts significant performance, chassis, and styling upgrades over the standard WRX.

While the current-generation WRX never received a full-fledged STI version, Subaru kept enthusiasts engaged with STI-tuned special editions. The S210 follows suit, building upon the Subaru WRX S4 STI Sport R EX with upgrades inspired by the WRX NBR Challenge race car that competes in the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race.
Performance Boost: More Power, More Excitement
Under the hood, the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine now delivers 296 hp (221 kW / 300 PS), an increase of 25 hp (19 kW) compared to other WRX models. The power boost is achieved through an upgraded intake system, pre-turbo duct, low-back pressure exhaust, and revised ECU tuning. Torque remains at 375 Nm (276.6 lb-ft) but features a more linear delivery.
Power is routed to all four wheels via Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT), an upgraded CVT system. Subaru claims the enhanced transmission offers improved driving dynamics by optimizing gearshift characteristics to better align with the engine’s output.
Chassis Enhancements: Precision and Control
The S210 features re-tuned electronically-controlled dampers by ZF, revised coil springs, and upgraded rear stabilizer bushes. Braking performance has been improved with drilled and ventilated discs on all four wheels, special brake pads, and Brembo six-piston calipers up front.
The car rides on 19-inch STI Flexible Performance wheels from BBS, paired with high-performance Michelin tires (255/35R19) for added grip and agility.
Sharper Aero and Motorsport Styling
The S210 stands out with aggressive aero components, including a large dry carbon rear wing, front splitter, sculpted side skirts, and a pronounced rear diffuser—all finished in Crystal Black Silica. A Cherry Red stripe on the grille adds a sporty accent, while exclusive S210 badging and STI emblems emphasize its special status.
Interior: Motorsport-Inspired Comfort
Inside, the S210 features Recaro seats with carbon backrests, Nappa leather upholstery, red stitching, and eight-way power adjustments. The cabin adopts a sporty black-and-red theme with STI emblems and an S210 serial number plate to highlight its exclusivity.
Limited Production, Global Uncertainty
Subaru plans to produce just 500 units of the WRX STI S210, with availability details expected in spring 2025. It remains unclear if this special edition will be exclusive to Japan or if it will reach international markets.
