Canadian buyers have one week to purchase a Tesla at current prices before the rates go up on February 1st

Tesla has announced significant price increases for its Canadian lineup, with the steepest hike hitting the Model 3 Performance, which will cost CA$9,000 (approximately US$6,200) more. Notably, the Cybertruck is the only model unaffected by the upcoming changes.
The new pricing, already reflected on Tesla’s Canadian website, takes effect on February 1, 2025. This leaves buyers a limited window to secure current rates before the increases are implemented.

Price Changes at a Glance
The Model 3 sees the largest adjustments, with price hikes ranging from CA$4,000 to CA$9,000 (US$2,800 to US$6,300) depending on the trim. For example, the Model 3 Performance will jump from CA$70,990 (US$49,400) to CA$79,990 (US$55,600).
Other models, including the Model Y, Model S, and Model X, will face a flat CA$4,000 (US$2,800) increase across all trims. The Cybertruck, however, remains unaffected, with the top-tier “Cyberbeast” model holding steady at CA$165,990 (US$115,400).
Possible Reasons for the Increase
Tesla has not provided a clear explanation for these price adjustments, but the timing coincides with proposed tariffs between Canada and the U.S. On February 1, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25% tariff on Canadian imports is set to take effect, with Canada planning retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods. It’s unclear if Tesla’s price changes are related to these developments or purely coincidental.
Adding to the impact, Canada recently discontinued its federal EV incentive program, which offered a CA$5,000 (US$3,500) rebate. Even if it were still in effect, Tesla’s increased prices would make many of its models ineligible for the program.
