The Morgan Reimagined for the Smartphone Era Has Arrived

The new Supersport, the successor to the Morgan Plus Six, boasts a sleeker design, enhanced practicality, and even sharper driving dynamics

Morgan has introduced the Supersport, its new flagship model and successor to the Plus Six. While it retains a recognizable silhouette, it incorporates fresh styling elements, improved usability, and chassis upgrades that bring it closer to mainstream rivals like Porsche and Aston Martin.

The Supersport’s exterior is sleeker and more aerodynamic than its predecessor without straying from Morgan’s classic design language. The front end features a sportier bumper and larger LED headlights with integrated indicators.

The signature horseshoe grille flows into a long, vented hood nestled between retro-inspired fenders. Standard 18-inch Superlite wheels can be upgraded to 19-inch forged aluminum Aerolite wheels, enhancing both aesthetics and performance by reducing unsprung weight.

At the rear, the sloping tail has been modernized with low-mounted LED taillights integrated into the diffuser, alongside dual exhaust pipes. In addition to the standard folding mohair soft top, buyers can opt for a carbon composite hardtop, effectively transforming the roadster into a coupe.

Blending Tradition with Innovation

Staying true to Morgan’s heritage, the Supersport’s body is crafted from aluminum and hand-formed over an ash wood frame. Notably, 60% of the aluminum used in the body and chassis is sourced from recycled materials.

Inside, the cabin closely resembles the Plus Six but features enhanced practicality. Storage space has been expanded behind the seats, complemented by a new glovebox, a small trunk, and an optional luggage rack. While exact cargo capacity hasn’t been disclosed, Morgan assures that it accommodates sidescreen stowage and overnight bags with ease.

Modern conveniences include an upgraded Sennheiser audio system, a wireless charging pouch in the center console, and hands-free calling—marking a first for the brand. These refinements make the Supersport more suited for weekend getaways compared to its more minimalist predecessors.

Enhanced Performance

The Supersport rides on the new CXV aluminum spaceframe chassis, offering greater rigidity than the previous CX platform. A revised steering system and reworked suspension with increased travel promise a more engaging yet comfortable driving experience.

For those seeking an even sportier setup, Morgan offers optional adjustable Nitron dampers and a limited-slip differential. Despite these upgrades, the Supersport maintains a lightweight design, tipping the scales at just 1,170 kg (2,579 lbs).

Under the hood, a BMW-sourced turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six delivers 335 hp (340 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque—identical to the now-discontinued Plus Six. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Pricing & Availability

The Morgan Supersport starts at £85,000 ($110,000) before taxes, with an on-the-road price of £105,160 ($136,000) in the UK. Optional extras, such as the £6,600 ($8,500) Aerolite wheels or the £3,000 ($3,900) Active Sport Exhaust, can further increase the cost.

As with its predecessor, each Supersport will be meticulously hand-built at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road facility. Orders are now open, with the first units expected to arrive at UK dealerships for test drives in mid-April.
