U.S. buyers of the revived electric microbus can choose from three trim levels and select either a single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD powertrain
After more than a year of anticipation, Volkswagen has finally announced the price of its retro-futuristic ID. Buzz. Starting at $59,995, excluding a $1,550 destination and handling fee, the electric microbus is set to make its way into American driveways.
VW also unveiled an EPA-estimated range of up to 234 miles, offering a clearer sense of the ID. Buzz’s real-world performance. To add to the excitement, VW showcased new photos of the available interior trims. The first U.S. deliveries of the 2025 ID. Buzz are expected later in 2024, with three well-equipped trim levels, which were first detailed after its official debut in July 2023.
The base Pro S model starts at an MSRP of $59,995, followed by the mid-range Pro S Plus at $63,495, and the limited-run 1st Edition flagship at $65,495. This pricing makes the ID. Buzz Volkswagen’s most expensive starting model in North America, exceeding the starting prices of both the fully electric ID.4 and the gas-powered Atlas SUVs.
The standard single-motor RWD powertrain generates 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS), while the dual-motor 4Motion AWD setup delivers 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS), similar to the EU-spec ID. Buzz GTX. AWD is available as an option for the Pro S Plus and 1st Edition trims, while the entry-level Pro S is exclusively RWD.
All U.S.-spec VW ID. Buzz models come with a long-wheelbase body and the larger 91 kWh battery pack. According to Volkswagen, the EPA-estimated range is 234 miles (377 km) for the RWD model and 231 miles (372 km) for AWD versions.
Even the entry-level ID. Buzz Pro S comes loaded with features, including 20-inch alloy wheels, stylish LED lights with animated effects, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a 5.2-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, 12-way power heated and ventilated front seats with massage functions, a 9-speaker sound system, and advanced safety tech under the IQ.DRIVE ADAS system.
The Pro S is limited to three single-tone color options, while two-tone configurations, shown in promotional images, cost an additional $995 on the Pro S Plus and are standard on the 1st Edition. The electrochromic panoramic smart glass roof is standard on the 1st Edition and available for $1,495 on the Pro S Plus.
For the first time, Volkswagen has revealed photos of all three interior trims. The Copper option features brown leatherette seats with yellow piping, matching door inserts, and a washed wood-look dashboard. The Moonlight trim offers dark brown leatherette seats with white piping, blue door inserts, a black headliner, and a dark wood-look dashboard. Lastly, the Dune trim, highlighted in last year’s press photos, includes light grey leatherette seats with clay-colored piping and a light wood-look dashboard.
Interiors are available in either a seven-seater or six-seater layout, with a choice between a rear bench or captain’s chairs, depending on the trim.
