Ram plans to introduce a new Dakota in South America next year, offering a glimpse of its potential U.S. counterpart

Ram has already pleased loyal fans by bringing the Hemi V-8 back to the 1500—a solid first step—but the lineup still lacks a true mid-size contender to take on the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, and Chevrolet Colorado.
That gap won’t last forever. Ram has confirmed a mid-size pickup is coming in 2027, and while we don’t yet know its exact look, a newly revealed concept in Brazil might hint at what’s ahead—especially given its name.

Meet the Ram Dakota Nightfall concept, previewing a new Dakota set to launch in Brazil and other South American markets in 2026. Though short on official specs, it appears aimed at rivals like the Tacoma Trailhunter, Ranger Raptor, and Colorado ZR2.
The concept packs 33-inch off-road tires, 18-inch beadlock wheels, Fox off-road suspension, a winch, a front tow hook, and bronze-painted underbody protection. Black fenders, a bed-mounted spare tire carrier with auxiliary lights, and a rugged stance complete the look—though rearward visibility takes a hit.

Stylistically, it fits right into Ram’s current lineup with a trapezoidal grille stamped “RAM,” a slim LED bar linking the headlights, and a hood intake with triple amber LEDs inspired by the 1500 RHO and TRX.
The production South American Dakota will be built in Córdoba, Argentina—home to Stellantis’ Fiat Titano, itself related to the Chinese Changan F70. It’s likely the Dakota will share some of that truck’s DNA.
For the U.S., Ram’s 2027 mid-sizer will reportedly ride on a body-on-frame platform—possibly the STLA Frame—and could borrow styling cues from the South American Dakota. The name Dakota remains a strong candidate, and if this concept is any indication, Ram’s mid-size entry will look every bit the part.
