Vancouver Auto Show Breaks Attendance Records Despite Tesla Ban and Boycott Calls

The Vancouver International Auto Show set new attendance records after gaining global attention for banning Tesla over safety concerns, organizers say

Despite calls for a boycott from Tesla supporters and CEO Elon Musk’s fans, the Vancouver International Auto Show set a new five-day attendance record, surpassing 138,000 visitors. Organizers also reported a single-day record of over 42,000 attendees on Saturday.

Tesla was banned from the event over safety concerns, with Executive Director Eric Nicholl citing risks to workers, attendees, and exhibitors.

The decision followed a wave of protests and vandalism at Tesla dealerships across Canada, driven by opposition to Musk’s involvement with the Trump administration.
