The fully-functional Tumbler will be powered by an LS3 V8, though, unfortunately, it won’t include a real jet engine.
Over the years, enthusiasts and film fans have created various life-size replicas of the iconic Tumbler from Batman’s The Dark Knight trilogy. Some have been more impressive than others, but none quite compare to the newly announced official recreations from Warner Bros. itself.
Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products has announced that its Wayne Enterprises Experience luxury brand will produce a limited run of life-size Tumbler models available for public purchase. It’s clear that the movie studio giant has identified a market opportunity for a vehicle that makes the Tesla Cybertruck’s bold design look mild in comparison.
Only 10 units will be produced. Each vehicle will feature a tubular chassis made from aeronautical steel, while the body panels will consist of a blend of Kevlar, carbon fiber, fiberglass, and sheet metal.
Like the Tumbler from the films, these replicas will be powerful, equipped with a 6.2-liter LS3 naturally aspirated V8 engine delivering 525 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be paired with a 4L85E GM transmission, and stainless steel headers will come as standard. While the Tumbler may not be particularly agile, Warner Bros. states it will weigh in at 5,511 lbs (~2,499 kg). Although that’s substantial, it’s surprisingly light given the vehicle’s size—almost 4,000 lbs (~1,800 kg) less than a Hummer EV.
Visually, the vehicle (if you can even call it that) looks just like the Tumbler from the movies, complete with a faux jet engine at the rear. While no interior photos have been released, the company indicates that customers will have the option to customize some of the finishes. Key features will include a black headliner, five-point racing harnesses, two seats, and multiple displays.
Now, let’s talk about the price. Warner Bros. is asking $2.99 million for each of the 10 units being produced, which is comparable to the cost of a Koenigsegg Jesko. Whether the movie studio can find 10 buyers willing to pay that much remains to be seen. Each unit will take about 15 months to build.
