Introducing the BMW Speedtop: A V-8-Powered Shooting Brake Limited to Only 70 Units

BMW has a tradition of debuting striking one-offs at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como, and this year is no exception. In 2023, the brand wowed attendees with the Skytop, a sleek two-seat convertible that eventually entered limited production. A year earlier, the spotlight was on the Concept Touring Coupe, a stunning two-door shooting brake that, despite its beauty, never made it past the concept stage.

Now, for 2025, BMW introduces the Concept Speedtop—a bold and beautiful shooting brake loosely based on last year’s Skytop. Like the convertible, the Speedtop sits on the same platform and features BMW’s signature V-shaped shark-nose front end, complete with matching light fixtures and an illuminated grille. But this time, there’s more practicality baked into the design.
Sleek Design Meets Usable Space
The Speedtop wears a dramatic Floating Sunstone Maroon-to-Sundown Silver gradient that sweeps from the front roofline to the rear. A central “spline” runs from the hood to the roof and onto the rear spoiler, adding a sense of movement. The custom-designed two-tone, 14-spoke wheels were made specifically for this car, perfectly filling out the muscular arches.
Inside, the cabin is wrapped in two-tone Sundown Maroon and Moonstone White leather, echoing the exterior palette. That same exterior “spline” detail is reimagined as a light beam that illuminates the dual-tone headliner. Even the trunk gets a dose of luxury, with coordinated leather trim and an elegant split luggage compartment housing a set of custom Schedoni bags tailored to fit perfectly.

Performance With Purpose
Underneath the gorgeous sheet metal, the Speedtop isn’t just for show. While BMW hasn’t confirmed the exact powertrain, it says the vehicle features the most powerful V-8 engine in its lineup. That likely means the familiar twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8, producing up to 617 horsepower, as seen in the Skytop.

Limited Production—But Not for Everyone
Perhaps the best news of all: the Concept Speedtop is going into production. BMW will build just 70 examples of the performance wagon for select clients. Unfortunately, it won’t be offered in the U.S., and pricing remains undisclosed—but it’s safe to assume it’ll carry an ultra-premium price tag.

“Last year, the presentation of the BMW Concept Skytop at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como generated great enthusiasm among connoisseurs and automotive enthusiasts,” said Bernd Körber, Senior Vice President of BMW Brand and Product Management.
“Thanks to this positive response, this year we have decided to also offer the BMW Concept Speedtop in a limited production series of 70 units. This extraordinary vehicle is now available for order.”
The BMW Concept Speedtop makes its world debut this weekend at the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.
