You Can Now Watch YouTube in Your Porsche

However, it’s only available on the passenger side or while parked

Porsche was among the first automakers to introduce a passenger-side screen in its vehicles, debuting in 2019 with the Taycan. Initially, its functionality was limited, but now passengers can stream their favorite YouTube videos while on the move.

Porsche Cayenne, Panamera, and Taycan models equipped with the optional passenger screen can now stream YouTube even when the car is in motion. When parked, drivers can also access YouTube via the center screen. For Porsche 911 models, YouTube streaming is limited to the center screen and only while stationary.

Newer models like the Macan Electric come standard with the YouTube app. Meanwhile, existing Porsche owners will receive the app via a free over-the-air update to their Porsche Communication Management system.

Rivian was one of the first automakers to enable YouTube streaming in its vehicles, using a YouTube Cast feature that let users stream content from their phones. Mercedes-Benz has also integrated YouTube into its latest MB.OS software.

Soon, other automakers with Google Built-In systems, like Chevrolet, Honda, and Volvo, are expected to follow suit. Before long, you too could be streaming your favorite videos during your drive—or while parked, of course.
