Despite his passenger being injured in the crash, Jack Doherty still insisted on continuing to film

Jack Doherty, a popular YouTuber, crashed his McLaren 570S during a livestream, in what seemed to be an entirely avoidable incident as no other vehicles were involved. He is now facing criticism for his response to the crash.
With nearly 15 million YouTube followers, Doherty rose to fame through prank videos. The accident occurred Saturday morning in Miami during heavy rain on the highway. Doherty was checking his phone while driving and livestreaming on the Kick platform. Shortly after the camera shifts away from him, the engine revs, and he loses control, crashing into a guardrail.
Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Doherty’s cameraman, identified only as Michael, suffered injuries that left him bloodied. Despite this, Doherty quickly asked Michael to continue filming the aftermath with two phones.
The McLaren, which Doherty purchased for $202,850 according to his YouTube channel, is now a wreck. The entire front end was destroyed, likely making it a total loss. Perhaps the severity of the incident has also had an impact on Doherty.

Since the crash, many online have criticized Doherty’s actions. A community note on one of his posts reads, “Context needed: Jack was using his phone and driving at excessive speeds in the rain, and he knew it.” Another comment stated, “Your friend was bleeding, and you were more focused on filming the whole thing than helping him, lmao.”
It’s important to note that Kick has banned Doherty for streaming the incident, citing a violation of their guidelines. On Sunday, he posted a follow-up message on X, claiming it was a “huge learning lesson.” Hopefully, he will clarify what lesson he is referring to in the future. It remains unclear whether he faces any legal charges related to the crash.
